Typotheque specimens

I got a lovely type specimen booklet from Typotheque in the post today. I love receiving stuff like this in the post, images on the internet aren't half as lovely as they are in print.

(I've put the links to the fonts in the pictures below the images.)

pprwrk Studio - Type design

Quatro is the newest typeface from Mark Caneso of pprwrk Studio. Some of the details are really nice (the K and italic uppercase R in particular), check out all the typefaces and a really slick graphic design portfolio.

Stereoplastika - Free Fonts

So many good free fonts around these days! And I love a good blocky font.

I've used Groteska here:

It looks like it's meant to be printed on card, cut out and slotted together.

European Design Hall of fame - Adrian Frutiger

Adrian Frutiger has become the third person inducted into the European Design Hall of Fame (Javier Mariscal and Erik Spiekermann are the other two winners). He wasn't able to attend the ceremony, but you can see a recorded message from him to the community.

Univers and Frutiger created by Adrian Frutiger (interesting sidenote - Frederic Goudy was the first to name a typeface after himself!).

Letter cults Best first half of 2009 - Custom lettering

Know your type - Futura - idsgn

The third installment in idsgn.org "Know your type" series. I had to include this because Futura is my most overused font! Very interesting to know it's the first typeface on the moon!

Wallpaper* Magazine - Sex Issue

Wallpaper* magazine has invited 250 of their favourite designers to reimagine the “tart card”, the adverts used by London prostitutes. Smutty, cheeky fun :P

Also part of the Sex Issue, check out Airsides blog for some sexy lady-letters :D Rawr!!

Hype for type

"It’s been a long struggle, a year long project in total from concept to completion. My ultimate ambition with HypeForType is to create a new and inspiring type foundry to showcase the best in todays typographic talent. It’s a place for designers and creatives to gain access and inspiration from truly original fonts. Not only do we have our first live exclusive volume with some tasty creations, we also have a back catalogue of over 200 individual typefaces. The foundry will constantly be updated, as we are looking to really keep things fresh. It’s been a very long road, but I am delighted to announce HFT open!"

I'm very excited :D I love Neo Deco by Alex Trochut.

Typography in fashion

I've been (slooowly) tidying my room and came across this Friis scarf that I bought and never wore!

I don't think my love of typographic graphic design translates into my clothes, but I do own a House of Holland tee which, unlike my scarf, I wear a LOT.

Here's some more fonty fashion:

This is the HOH tee I own. I bought a medium and it's huuuge!!

Helvetica necklace from Plastique on Etsy. More fonts available too :D Sweet!

And from one of my favourite bloggers - check out Nubby Twiglets shop (and while your there check out every post she's made EVER) for this rather lovely number tee. Do it now, I command you!!!
